Dinner with an Italian Family

MercatoA great dinner prepared, with you or for you, in the house of a Roman family where the mother passed her passion for food and cooking to everyone. The boys are now professional cooks.

This is more then a cooking lesson or a typical Dinner in Rome

Morning & Lunch with the family

Pasta all'uovoThe family Mamma will receive you at home if you arrive by car or meet you at the nearest subway station (lineB).   The house is in a residential area, far from the mass tourism, where you might really feel being a true roman for a day.    Together you will go to areal market, well different from the touristic well known one of Campo de’ Fiori!   They will show you and teach you how to choose the best eggs for the tiramisu. There are many different kind of eggs, not all ideal for cakes!  They will show you where to get the cold cuts and the right cheeses for an aperitif or a dinner, of course the vendors will let you taste a bite of their goods to help you choosing the right one. There is even a butcher making a show with his knives….a real district market were the housewives are shopping for their daily food.

After the shopping (La spesa) you will go home and cook with the mamma and her son or, if you Tiramisu e Panna cottalove all about food but don’t want to cook yourself, just look at them preparing everything for you.   Often the dessert they prepare (you can steal the recipe) is a exquisite Tiramisù.

Peter, one of the young men in the family has been living and has studied in England for few years, and has also worked together with Jimmy Oliver, a famous cook working on TV food shows in England.

Dinner with a Family

Polpettine al sugo 2The food is prepared with you or for you, as you like, starting with the homemade pasta, seasoned with a Carbonara, Amatriciana or Pesto sauce (also made at home), going on with a roman traditional main course, like the “saltimbocca alla romana” or “polpettine al sugo” finishing with a great dessert, according to the season, often: Tiramisu or panna cotta (sometimes both!).

They might make you try their special extra virgin olive oils and show you how to recognize a truly good one from a false.

All the family members speak good English and are very friendly
